How to Create Portable Apps

Portable Apps is a tool or application that you can carry with you on a portable device, such as a USB flash drive, iPod or MP3 player or an external hard drive that can be plugged into a USB port. Just plug-in your portable device like flash drive into your Windows computer, and you can access the software without installing on the computer. We have already discussed about portable Ubuntu for Windows, a list of 10 popular portable browsers and a list of 50 killer portable tools for USB drive earlier. Do you know you that if a portable version is not available for any window based application or tool then you can create its portable version in few clicks?

PackageFactory for U3 allows you to convert any application or EXE into a U3P Package File, for free! Once U3P Package File is created you can install it onto any U3-compatible flash drive.

How to Create Portable Apps with PackageFactory?

1. Download PackageFactory for U3 and install it on your computer.
2. Open or Start PackageFactory. You will notice the following screen.

1. Drag and drop exe file you want to install onto your U3 drive(along with dll files, if required).
2. Click on create to generate U3P file that you can install onto any U3 drive.

Note- Complex programs that rely on Registry or installed components may not work.
